I'd say a good decent gear will run you up to about $1500 - $2000... though it really depends on how much you are willing to fish out.
Look out for a sale in the local shops or just buy online. Warn you though that when buying online, you must already know what your size are as most online stores don't do exchanges.

maybe it's the ease to replace the visors. if I had known that then I wouldn't have bought my arai. though I do love the graphics on me lid... it sorta looks like the Gatchaman helmets w/ a flat visor
