I agree. The sauce for the first shot was way too runny. As for the second shot, it's supposed to be for editorial purposes.

I like how the sharpness is focused on the stamen (sp?) of the flower. Maybe less bokeh would be better and bring out the rest of the flower more.

dub dub: yah I noticed the halo after the fact but was too lazy to go back and retouch it so it'll just have to sit that way until I find a day when I'm bored haha
Here's a couple from granville island today, the slight overcast sky was hard to control and even when underexposed.. it was a little on the boring side
more to come when i'm done editting
