First Snowboard
I'm thinking about picking up my first board soon but really don't know much about them other than the typical rules of thumb such as length and flex.
A few boards that have been recommended to me are:
Burton Clash
Burton Mayhem
K2 Anagram
K2 Zeppelin
Money isn't too big of an issue and I do prefer to spend more on something decent that I can learn on and grow with but I don't mind saving a few bucks if I can. Thanks in advance.

Both K2 and Burton are good brands, i'm not too familliar which one of the four is "better" than the other since i dont know the details, but they shouldnt be too different. Ive got a K2 myself
As for tips,
I would say if you're boarding for the first time/buying for first time don't spend to much on the equipment, just enough that it's not shitty because boards arent like cars, you buy and you keep riding it. Especially beginners, once you've stepped up a few notches you're gonna want to buy a better board, different flex and longer or whatnot.
I've switched up my gear almost every other year, new bindings and new boots on yr, and board another year so it recycles really quickly if you're really into it. All my friends are like that too, those who got upgrades last yr switched up a few things this yr too, so, just focus on learning the basics first =)

If your planning on getting a first snowboard to learn on,get a used one from craigslist, when your learning to board,it's pretty a much guarantee you will be hitting things, scape and have huge board twisting wipeouts.
There's no point in destroying a brand new board when you don't have to.

As a beginner, I'd just get a cheaper board so you know what kind of rider you are and what you want to do with it, and to learn.
Having scratches and chips on a brand new expensive board will cause few tears to shed.
I know someone who bought the most expensive set-up from burton, just to give up on it after a season because he found that he didn't enjoy snowboarding.
K2s are decent boards, as well as Forum. I have a Burton myself.. but I don't know if it's worth all the money for the brand new season boards. >_< So pricy! Most boards you can learn and grow with, so pick an all-around board.. as in not too stiff and not too flexible.
It'll be a good season this year.. Enjoy!!

Maybe you can start with renting snowboard equipments at boardroom on west 4th, they have a few differ kind of boards to choose from (some of them brand new) but they only have certain brands. I think it's better to try first then invest in intermediate - advance board if u buy a snowboard, cuz i regret that i bought a noob board, not fun after a couple season

like the others have said... get a board off craigslist to learn and flip it after when you're ready to upgrade...
i got one from cl too and another purpose is that i really want to learn to tune a board... so if i screw up i'm not messing up at $600 board...
the length of the board depends on your height, weight and how you want to ride... and partially how big your feet is
