Which service provider are you using?
Telus and Bell only have a 3G network, they don't have a GSM network. So if you are using Telus/Bell then you won't get any signal if you kill the 3G network.
If you are using Fido/Rogers and this happen then look for the setting that says use Both GSM/3G or something that have the same meaning (sorry I don't have the iPhone with me right now to know the exact wording)

That explains it. I'm with Bell. I Thought it was possible to use 2g to save some battery life when I'm not using it for Internet. Thanks

Ran into a problem with the iPhone where it can't sync with my computer. It says "cannot sync. The required file cannot be found" anyone else had this problem?

So how is the 4 JB'ed? Any cool features for customization etc?
Last time I was JB was when I first got my 3G and I found I didn't use any of the apps I could get for free and basically only used the visual customizations, any need to JB ?

Sbsettings (remove BG which close all app except the one running is a must have toggle)
Cannot live without those 3
I also use various tweaks than IMO apple should of included:
Remove recent (clear all te non backgrounded app from the multitask menu)
Nospot (remove spotlight)
Remove voice control

White one is nice, but black one I think is classier. I just got my black bumper today and the combo is awesome along with a screen protector. My first iPhone, super happy with it.
