With screen around half brightness, a poorly written flash game that sucks resources, while surfing internet (i had lots of tabs open, both in IE and FF at the same time) it lasted maybe 4-4.5 hours. You could probably get 8 if you turned off the wifi and brightness and all that though and just type in Word or something, lol
I'm picky as fuck when it comes to gadgets and the build quality is impressive. No gaps, soft flexy parts, just solid feel all around and the aluminum surfaces everywhere is sexy. I think it was on sale, I just saw it listed in the flyer.
The thing I didnt like was the packaging because the sweatshop worker bent the protective plastic film when they put the unit into a cloth bag, but fortuneately there was no damage to the laptop lid from the thick plastic film.
Go to staples to check the thing out, it is really that good.

Ended up picking up the Timeline, it's pretty good thus far. I was going to ask about the battery life and how to achieve the "8 hours" but you more or less just answered it. Slightly misleading I think if you can only type in word to get that life span....I mean, the average user would be using the internet + word MINIMUM, and I usually have music playing, maybe I'll have to use my phone for music when working on this thing. Either way 5 hours of regular use is pretty damn good; especially compared to my Dell which averaged 1.25 hours, and would overheat well using facebook.
Other wise, very happy with it! Very fast, snappy, overall very satisfied

Changing your battery profile in win7 to max battery will net you the longest battery life.

Where do I find said battery profile?
Battery update--> Right now on a full charge on Power Saver setting with Chrome open with 4 tabs and Thunderbird open for email, it's stating only only 3.5 hours, which is a far cry from 8.

Which video card do you have enabled? You'll get the longest out of the intel one. As well I hope your brightness isn't maxed out.
