My laptop is not working now, please help
I had encountered a problem with my laptop this morning and would appreciate your thoughts on what the problem may be and how I my be able to resolve it. I have a Dell XP1530 and today, when I turned on the laptop and the screen remains black (no boot screen, no Windows startup). The machine seems to be running (hard drive spinning etc.) but no display. I connect the laptop to an external monitor and also nothing happens. Any ideas?
Please kindly help me out.

unplug the power and take out the battery and turn it back on

are there any lights that light up?
did you try to turn on the laptop without the battery but with just the power cord?

I had one of these. They were designed with faulty graphics chipsets and eventually die. Take it apart and grab whatever you need from the HD. It's not worth it having the entire motherboard replaced.

Only if he has the nVidia chipset. If he has the Intel video then this shouldn't be a problem.

Do you have nvidia or intel chipset? Hope you bought the warranty from Dell. If you can have your mobo replaced, make sure you do the copper mod on the nvidia chip.
