Difference between a 51 and 54 r3 frame is quite marginal... ie, can be made up with stem change, as long as standover is close enough.

You're a great salesman! but I promised myself that i will not buy a new bike until i'm in the next income tax bracket :P
and plus, 105's and a 18/19lb bike is more than enough for me. i dont foresee any performance benefit for myself from a lighter bike, or a fancier groupset at this point

you probably would feel the difference on a 16/17pd bike though with with your riding style/history

Did you end up booking a hotel room? If you want something slightly cheaper, and/or don't mind staying in someone's home, then you can try AirBNB.com.
There's this little cottage that I would have picked myself if not for the lady friend booking a place for us.

And don't burn yourself out before the Fondo, I'm sure you'll be fine!

I'm looking to sell my Vitus 979 vintage road bike. All original Shimano 600 complete groupset. Pristine mint condition. Dream to ride. Previously tuned up by Guywires (local vitus specialists) and also Rob from La Bicicletta.
55cm center to center seat tube.
80cm standover height.
Suited for a lightweight rider.
Email me if you're interested in more info.

Looks like you snapped your rear derailleur hanger off? Thus now you're missing your rear derailleur and chain. But no, I know the part you're missing..if you look really closely, you're missing the valve cap on your presta valve.

Yup. Killed the derailleur hanger and had to break the chain and coast down the mountain... basically 5 min from the top. Still able to ride A-line as a coaster!!
And valve caps are unnecessary weight.

Sorry to hear that, but hey, mountain bikes are meant to take a beating! I'm sure you'll be back up there again soon.
On another note, anyone looking for a nice road frame? I've got a 2011 Scott Addict R2 (size 56) FRAME/FORK for sale. Looks like this:
That's not my bike, but to give you an idea what the frame looks like and what the bike looks like built up. Used, but in good condition still. Read the reviews, it's a killer bike! Got to thin down the collection again. =(

Yeah, wrong size for me. Scott frames are awesome! I tried out a CR1 at Dizzy Cycles and had to get off quick otherwise I would have wanted it too much.
Does anyone run tubeless road tires? Any recommendations? I've got a project in mind...
