Personally I think MG thrives in a non-traditional hockey market with full autonomy from ownership. Much like his very good friend Dale Tallon has in Florida.
Too bad there aren't many of those around, which is weird to say. Maybe Katz wakes up on the wrong side of the bed and fires the Oilers GM group and hires Gillis. That would be hilarious if he took that team to another cup before Vancouver wins one....

Also, if Linden gets appointed GM:
Hiring Linden would be a complete marketing/nostalgia move to appease the fans and not a hockey move. I solidly believe they should promote Gilman; it was rumoured months ago there were teams interested in him for a GM position.

Daryl Katz is just as bad, if not worse than Aquilini. Oilers brass wanted (and needed) Ryan Murray, but Katz vetoed it and forced them to pick Yakupov.
