The John Norwich Riders CornerIn honour of our fellow moderator: John Norwich R.I.P. September 17th, 2014
Buy, sell, trade bikes and gear, set up bike rallies, meet discussions. #revscenebikes
I was thinking about this the other day ... if you could have ANY motorbike and ANY car, what would they be? NOW ... obviously, the fantasy factory kicks in and people think Aston Mart, McLaren, etc...
...but I am going to put some qualifiers in place.
a - it could be the ONLY bike and vehicle that you could own for the next FIVE years
b - you will personally be footing all maintenance and fuel costs
c - it HAS to be your daily driver / ride
With those realistic qualifiers, I narrowed it down to two rides...
Vehicle
2015 Nissan GTR Black Edition in red
The car might have been kicking it over here since 2007/2008, but I love it as much now as I did then and really ... at that price point, has anything surpassed it in terms of performance?
The drivetrain would be a terrific option for our weather and the interior is well-appointed enough to keep me satisfied. It might not be as comfortable as some vehicles but I'm more than willing to make the compromise
Bike
2014 BMW S1000R
Naked bikes are the PERFECT compromise for me ... I want a big motor, great suspension and brand-name brakes... not that I will ever REALLY use them but I need them to feel good about myself and keep my man-card securely in my wallet... what I don't want is a back breaking ride because I am getting old... this bike is a terrific compromise because it spits out a ton of power, has a tremendous suspension and bike brakes.
It's also one of those bikes I fell in love with immediately. Given the more relaxed seating position, I think I could enjoy riding this bike for many years...
If you could have ANY bike or car ... and it was the ONLY bike and car you could use for five years... and knowing that you were paying for running costs, what would you choose?

For a realistic car I'd choose the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe in red
For the bike (since I'm paying for maintenance and fuel then the MTT Y2K is out of the question) I'd go with the next bike on my real next bike to buy list: BMW S1000R
911 4S Cab. I'd take this over some obnoxious super car any day. Thing's reliable enough that I can still afford to fork out for maintenance when required.
I know this isn't anything too special, but even years ago before I started getting into riding, the R6 Raven always stood out to me. They're very affordable (always some pre-owned ones up on CL), so it wouldn't be that unrealistic if I were to pick one up in the next few years..

For a bike i'll go with the Mission RS from Mission Motorcycles as shown here on an episode of Jay Leno's Garage. The bonus is that it's essentially maintenance free, with the exception of the consumables like tires.
For a car it'd have to be a Ferrari 458. Lack of maintenance on the bike let's me justify the extra maintenance costs on the car (even though they won't equate) http://www.mrwallpaper.com/view/Whit...alia-1024x576/
