It will need about 10 days resting period from day of roast before the tasting notes are more pronounced.

it's pretty rare to buy beans that arent at least 5-7 days old i find, so typically i use about half my beans in that sweet spot

ECM was nice and all... but it's overly designed IMO. It's perfect for people who want to experiment coffee at the finest level.
My wife/parents don't want to spend 10min going through the manual/listening me giving them a demo on a summarized quick start guide.
So in the end, the grind, lock and touch a button won.
Edit: as for beans, I prefer Stumptown... even its basic hair bender is incredibly smooth.
I'm on their subscription and I think they give 25% discount or something like that.

With stumptown ever bag I’ve seen locally is pretty much a month old or older in most coffee shops. I’m assuming with the subscription beans are fairly fresh?

usually about 7-10days old from roast date.
Anything fresher has to be in-store. I remember the ones you can grab in store are usually 3days from roast.

Just politely ask when they receive their shipments. Locally besides Platform 7 and Pure bread, not sure who else carries Stump.

Platform 7 is where I’ve seen the older beans and hence not purchased.
Will have to check them out again though haven’t been in in a while
