Wow, fantastic job on those wheels. I think my dad had long given up on them.

Honestly the car aged really well, didn’t feel dated until you look at the low res infotainment screen. I would have kept it for myself if I wasn’t in Toronto right now. I’m not sure current Audis will age as gracefully. The Tucson PHEV my dad replaced it with definitely won’t.

I think it was one of Audi’s first models with the LED DRLs after the R8.

What wheel cleaner did you use out of curiosity? Or maybe just a lot of elbow grease?

I think it was the Meguiars wheel cleaner? I think a proper degreaser was the key to getting the brake dust out, but tbh after this mornings drive it was already caked again.

On another note, I just renewed my BCAA membership.

i think if you ceramic coat the wheels, it'll keep the brake dust off.... a little longer.

Doesn't keep it off persay, but sure as heck makes it a lot easier to wash off during a quickie wash.

At least most of it will come off with a pressure wash as opposed to actually having scrub it.

Adios to my dad's '09 A4 Avant and congrats to the RS member who picked this up on the cheap. Family car for 13 years, many fond memories of roadtrips in it. May it run for many kms more

It was listed on Revscene - and it was one hell of a deal. I think a lot of us were contemplating jumping on it lmao

I know I was... had to try and gauge the response from the wifey and by the time that was given the green light it had gone pending

it was a killer deal. long roof w B&O sound? could have just sat in this in the backyard to listen to the stereo.

maaaan - i forgot the RS classy's even still existed. I'd have bought this in a heartbeat for a ski wagon.

long live the forums!

The Audi wagon was definitely a nice pick up as I'm in the wagon camp myself: we have a MK7 Sportwagen as our family hauler.

It's a shame that the enthusiasts' enthusiasm for wagons never really transpired into new sales. The MK7 Sportwagen was basically everything that an enthusiast ever wanted - turbo-charged engine, 6-speed manual, and AWD, but it never sold in decent enough numbers which is why VW killed the model for North America.

yep - we're a wagon (extended) family also.

my dad has a MK7 TDI (super rare - his 3rd GSW) and my cousin has a manual TSI

if either of them ever give them up I'll scoop them.

sometimes it's hard to imagine as an enthusiast that there aren't millions of people just like us. reality is the take up on these models is almost statistically zero (in the states) and that's our market.

good on VW for giving us one last shot at it. This is the company that in the early 90's brought the supercharged & manual passat G60 syncro wagon (and sedan) to Canada. VAG deserves credit for listening to their customers sometimes - even if they're loss leaders.

the OG sportwagon:
