Can't qualify for any EV rebates and we can't really afford car payments. I have to maintain our cars myself with parts from RockAuto and YouTube videos.

They're tryna grind away the down payment still, takes awhile to save $130K+ for a 1 BR 
Their parents clear over $100K too!
They wanna keep spending low until they have a nest egg for DP / emergency fund so I get it. I didn't drive beaters any longer than I had to, thought I wish I still did so I can get my end game cars quicker.
