I have near zero firearms knowledge, so everything I am saying now is the results of some quick googling.
News is saying:
- an AR-15 style weapon was used to shoot Trump
- the shooter was ~400 - 500 ft away from Trump
Google is saying:
- an AR-15 can accurately shoot up to 600 yards for point targets, and 800 yards for area targets, subject to environmental factors and shooter skills

This was obviously not staged, but the fact he's a registered Republican is quite interesting.
The guy had a Discord, so we'll find out soon enough what he's all about.
People are theorizing that he was one of those vehement anti-pedophile warriors, and since the Epstein files have now directly linked Trump to flying on his plane (7 times, and Trump had said he never did), the right is now eating itself. When you say "shoot pedophiles" you can't ignore Trump, he was accused of raping a minor.

I wonder if the shooting had something to do with Trump publicly rejecting Project 2025 a few days ago, because supposedly the shooter might have tried to kill Trump for not being conservative enough.

While Trump was still seeking the nomination, many Democrats registered as Republicans so they could vote against him with someone like Nikki Haley.
People registering with a party means very little. From the age of 18 I was registered with the Conservatives (Reform or whatever it was back then) after attending a Preston Manning speech with my mom. I have never voted Conservative, but through the years I received regular calls from the party asking for my support.
