Think there’s a couple things after following it for a bit

Almost certainly there’s aspects of the hockey bro culture, I’d say certainly she came back willingly to fuck the first guy etc.

The testimony and how the judge outlined how her own story wasn’t consistent etc. and aspects of the story that were made public seem like she was intentionally egging people on, maybe it turned into more than she expected. The stories also say there is video of her around the time of the incident and she isn’t completely hammered etc. like she tried to claim

On the flip side almost certainly she was taken advantage of given the situation.

There are also things to consider like she had previously settled out of court with Hockey Canada, so was she after money? Did this initial settlement make her feel like she could squeeze more out of it? Was she embarrassed the story came out because of the initial trial and now wanted to “punish” the individuals involved?

I’d say overall there was essentially assault, however the intent can’t be proven and there’s enough evidence that she was a willing participant to some degree. However, all the hockey players can likely afford superior representation and if you’ve got an expensive enough lawyer, you’ll probably get off almost anything

The crown is the entity that decides to file charges and bring criminal cases to trial, not the victim. This trial seems like it was more a result of public pressure.

The whole case was centered around what defines consent. Reading the testimonies there's no evidence this woman ever denied consent.

- Appeared sober and spoke coherently on video during and after the incident, a finding made by the judge undermining her claim of incapacitation.
- Admitted in a text to one of the accused that she consented to sex with him.
- Texted a third-party friend right after the incident that she was "being dramatic" and that she had put herself in a "bad situation."
-Texted that same friend the next day that she "hadn’t been 'lit enough' that night." Again this goes against her claim she was incapacitated by alcohol.
- Was described in testimony by one teammate as "vocally" expressing what she wanted sexually in the hotel room.
-Was described in testimony by another teammate (not on trial) as "chirping" the players, egging them on, and calling them "pussies" for not engaging with her.
- Testified that she did not believe the men would have physically prevented her from leaving the room, which undermined her claim of being trapped by fear.
- Rejected an offer of help from a friend at the bar, replying that she was "fine," and then ignored that friend's subsequent calls and messages.
- Altered her story about comments made by the players, describing them as "joking" to police but later as "intimidating and frightening" in her civil lawsuit.
- Provided a statement in 2022 about falling in front of a player established at trial as "not true."
- Gave inconsistent testimony about fundamental facts, such as being unable to reliably identify which players were in the room.

Thing is, she already got the easy paycheque. Hockey Canada paid her 3.5 million in civil settlement.

The police/crown had already decided they weren't going to prosecute criminally, citing lack of evidence that there was no consent. It was public outrage that caused them to reconsider and go to trial, and surprise surprise they lost for that exact reason.

??? I think you’re confused about what this was. Civil and criminal are not the same thing. She didn’t bring this case against them, the police/crown decided to pursue assault charges. There was no money in this for her? She already got paid 3.5M from Hockey Canada hush money.

didnt i tell you toys? i took all my stupid student loan money (45k) and invested it in GM stock before their bailout. Made enough to buy the house in richmond, the maserati, and paid back my loans.

If i failed, i would declared bankruptcy but who cares, i had a lousy history philosophy major. its not like i was going to make any money anyways.
