Former NHL player Ryan Kesler has been charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct in Michigan.
Court records show Kesler, 41, was arraigned via Zoom on Monday in Bloomfield Hills District Court and pleaded not guilty to both misdemeanour charges.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on Jan. 1 in Orchard Lake, Mich.
Bond was set at US$50,000, with a 10 per cent deposit, and Kesler was ordered not to leave Michigan without court permission. He must also appear for all scheduled hearings.
A probable-cause conference is set for Nov. 6, followed by a preliminary examination Nov. 13.
The Livonia, Mich., native played for the Vancouver Canucks from 2003 to 2014 before being traded to the Anaheim Ducks, where he played until his retirement in 2019.
He was also a member of the United States Olympic teams in 2010 and 2014 and won the Frank J. Selke Trophy in 2011 as the NHL’s top defensive forward and was part of Vancouver’s run to the Stanley Cup Final that year.

That’s incorrect.
Fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC 4) in Michigan is a high court misdemeanor that includes unwanted sexual contact under specific circumstances, such as a minor being involved with a significant age difference, or a person who is mentally or physically helpless. Penalties can include up to two years in prison and sex offender registry requirements depending on the victim's age.
Definitions and circumstances
Victim is a minor (age 13-15): If the accused is five or more years older than the victim, and there is sexual contact.
Force or coercion: Unwanted sexual contact accomplished through force or coercion.
Mentally incapacitated or helpless: Sexual contact with a person who is mentally incapable, mentally incapacitated (e.g., due to drugs administered without consent), or physically helpless (e.g., unconscious or asleep).
Abuse of authority: Sexual contact by a mental health professional with a patient or by a school employee with a student, often involving specific age ranges.
Unethical medical/health exam: A healthcare professional performs an unethical or non-medically recognized examination that involves inappropriate sexual contact

So it could be a minor, or it could be him taking advantage of someone who was drugged or drank too much? Neither is great but sounds too early to throw out the child diddler accusation

This is true, it’s no surprise at all for anyone that knew this guy or hung out around his circles back in the day… matter of when not if. I know of at least 5-6 female friends or girlfriends of friends or even wives of friends who encountered him at night spots in Van and had a hard time convincing him to fuck off.
