Oh, wow. A Camry GT-S. Will they ever bring the GT-S to the Corolla or (heaven forbid!) the Celica!?
I have low expectations that this will materialize at all. Even if it does, there will either be a 3 year wait list, insane dealer markups, or so poorly built, a new forum outside of RS will need to be created to trash Toyota.
Same shit different name. That's no different from the TRD editions a few years back, lowered suspension, some extra stick on bits and colours with an exhaust tip. It goes back all the way to gen 3 Camrys where they had the "Sport" trim coupe which had blacked out mirrors.
The only time Toyota ever gave us a meaningful bump on a Camry was the Aurion TRD with the SC 2GR.
The TRD Camry in the last gen at least had actual different suspension and was 10mm (15?) lower, plus a 5hp bump from exhaust lol.
That product was terrible!
the 5hp exhaust gain came with hella drone
the coilovers rode like shit
and a 0-60 run still dumps you into 2nd gear at 2700rpm cuz no final gear change
I put on winters on the M3 yesterday because my bald AD09 has zero grip in the wet and leaves. The fronts were fine though just could not put any power down. Right after I got the winters put on in the morning, it was sunny at 15C.
Oh yeah they put kinda shitty summer tires on TRD Camry at launch
Then later all of the came with the worst all seasons in the word (Bridgestone Turanaza EL400-02).
Tacoma also had the TINY rear bilsteins in the Offroad package for 20 years!
36mm rear shocks was the same shit the 1st gen had, except the 3rd gen added 800lbs.
Bilstein doesn't even SELL 36mm to the public.
Even a Miata has 46mm, which has 60% more oil in it to deal with heat.
To nobody's surprise, the tacoma shocks fail!
30 years later they finally put 46mm on the Tacoma...
Corolla APEX
Max performance summer tires from Dunlop, same tier as PS4S and not some Prius bullshit they put on the 86.
Stiffer springs, bigger anti roll bars, retuned dampers... so extreme they make it "really bounce, harsh, unrefined and juvenile".
Same tiny brakes as the LE Eco trim, did not get the bigger ones from the hatch.
All of that for .87g skipad...
While an Altima on all seasons got more grip (.91g), even with extra weight of AWD at the same magazine test.
Yes because this is exactly what happens when a bunch of old geezers drive a corolla. they end up in a parking lot and start a middle age dance off with a single corolla.
If someone is still looking into getting a Camry these days, they have absolutely ZERO interest in any sort of sporty performance.
They just want a car that is comfy / roomy, reliable, and not particularly exciting. But the GT-S trim is the exact opposite of comfy and not-exciting. The paint job alone is already drawing too much attention.

I'll dodge your question by somewhat answering it head-on, but if you recall earlier this summer, we went on a road trip and our car was hit and run. Only after we got back, the dashcam showed up in the mail. I really wished I had a dashcam (hindsight is 20/20!) I can't remember if it was you or underscore, but someone teased how I managed to survive so long in Toronto w/o one. Truth of the matter is, I wished I had gotten one a lot earlier. I personally don't think you really need a super fancy one. I have a 2-channel and while it's nice, it isn't necessary.
I bought my camera from redtigercam.com and they currently have a sale. Keep in mind, their prices are in USD but they have a Canadian distributor so you don't need to pay additional taxes/duties/brokerage fees. I'm sure others have experience with other brands, but I got it when they had a Rennlist members sale.
For installation, you can keep it simple by using the cigarette lighter adapter, but if you want to hardwire it for certain functions, you could DIY, but I think there are a few shops in Richmond (your favourite place!) to do it for you. (Not racist.) I followed a few YouTube tutorials on the DIY hardwire install. It was a relatively simple procedure.

Have you seen the mods they do to Camry, Accord, Civic and CR-V in south central LA or the Bronx/Wash Heights?
These cars are status symbols back home in PR/DR so they do this to live out a 'dream' or to signal to the rest of their community.
It's no different from a pandem civic or widebody RX7, just a different audience.
