Like they would ever come up with something this ingenious anymore. The company is totally about cost cutting nowadays. Even this TT v8 is just a mishmash of their new 2.0 inline 4

The GT GR looks great; it will have a lot of road presence and I don't think the price will scare off buyers. Heck, a decently spec'd Temerario is around $700k, which isn't limited and there's nothing special about it. If the GR is limited production, it will be worth the price tag.

Please don’t compare Italian exotics to this completely non exotic Toyota. Pathetic. It won’t even be able to compare to a lousy beetle as it’s been way too long since anyone in Toyota knows how to make a proper sports car that’s done in house. This sort of engineering needs multiple reiterations and constant refinement. Successive generation will breed success but a new chassis pared with a new engine isn’t very reassuring. Plus Toyota isn’t known to keep their loss leaders around very long.

This is toyota's first time experimenting with a hot V turbo V8 engine. Wonder how it'll go

Totally missing the mark, it’s an ugly AMG GT with the exact same engine format TT 4L V8. If it was 2020 maybe it would be novel but the AMG perfected this long hood short back V8 luxury sports car thing a long time ago.

The GR GT kind of has the same problem my R8 has. It's the best they make. With other companies like Lambo, Ferrari, and Mclaren they are always coming out with newer better stuff. So you have a ladder you can climb. You get board of your Lambo after a few years buy there latest hotness.

Does Audi even have plans to replace the R8?

There are rumours but who knows. Right now Lambo has the Revuelto and you know they are going to a a bunch of special versions.

Here is the Aventador time line. I don't think Toyota will do that.

2011: The Aventador LP 700-4 coupe was launched at the Geneva Motor Show, succeeding the Murciélago.
2012: The Roadster variant was introduced.
2015: The Aventador SV (SuperVeloce) was launched with increased power.
2017: The Aventador S (LP740-4) received updates.
2018: The Aventador SVJ (SuperVeloce Jota) was revealed.
2021: The final version, the Aventador LP 780-4 Ultimae, was announced.
2022: Production officially ended, with the last car being an Ultimae Roadster.

A Reddit user analyzed Transport Canada’s entire recall database (over 142,000 records) to test the belief that first-model-year cars are always unreliable. The data shows the opposite of what most people think.

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/whatcarshou..._and_the_ford/

Recalls now happen much faster - 2010 models averaged 4.5 years before a first recall, but 2024 models only take about two months. This shift isn’t because cars are worse, but because manufacturers now get real-time fault data through vehicle telemetry. Problems that once took years to identify are now flagged immediately.

The 2022 Ford Maverick’s 46 recalls illustrate this: nearly all occurred within 18 months, meaning current buyers already benefit from fixes and documentation. Older cars had similar flaws but owners just didn’t know about them yet.

When comparing manufacturers, Ford is the slowest to announce recalls (average 2.6 years), while Mercedes is the fastest (1.3 years). Another odd finding: August consistently sees about three times more recalls than any other month, likely due to pre–model year reporting dumps.

The takeaway: “wait for the second model year” is outdated advice. With instant recall reporting, it’s smarter to buy models whose issues are already known and resolved like the Maverick today.

like anyone would buy a mavarick

Fine so they identify the issues faster, it doesn't mean there are fewer issues. If anything, the number of issues has grown significantly due to all the tech involved. So unless you want to be a beta tester for the car companies, you should still wait for the mid-cycle refresh or at least a few years for them to work out the bugs.

Take my LC for example. Mostly bulletproof even in the first few years. No engine problems reported on any of the forums or transmission issues. But 2017/2018 had some issues with the electronic door handles not popping out.

By the time my convertible rolled around in 2021 (i bought in 2022), they changed the part number on the door handle and that's now fixed. Along with redoing the transmission programming every single year and added some more parts like yamaha dampeners and additional strut & underside bracing.

They're doing 200k+ units on the Maverick - it was so popular that RAM and Kia had to immediately start a competitor.

Hybrid trims that cost more were 70% of sales, so 130k or 3 times as many as Prius.

They only sold like 6000 per year in Canada because even the US was supply constrained.
Stateside, it sells more than every single midsize pickup except for Tacoma.

Hybrids have a 6+ month waitslist in Canada, even though they cost more and were FWD only until this year.

I actually realllllllly like driving the Mach E GT Performance Pack.
Super quick steering, Magneride, and summer tires gives it an old import tuner hatchback feel.
Very eager.

Son's friend's family's Honda Fit got written off and they picked up a Maverick. They love the thing as it fits all their needs.

Ford has something great going on with the Mav, something that Hyundai didn't capture with the Santa Cruz. The Mav isn't pretending to be anything other than a utilitarian vehicle, and it makes the upcoming LOBO and Tremor trims more cool.

Maverick isn't bad for a small pickup.

I've actually been considering that as my next vehicle when I lease something new in 2027.

I watched some dude with an extended F150 (well it looked extended) park next to a wall on a curve at crystal mall and I was impressed. Some Chinese guy too. Probably RZD's dad

Even full size SUV like QX80 and Escalade can't make it into every mall - DT Seattle Target in particular.

I've squeezed RAM and Lightning at Crystal Mall and Continental in Richmond, it's not pleasant without 360 cam but it works
