Also, South Korea is one of 41 countries whose citizens can use the U.S. Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which provides a visa waiver if they can provide “a legitimate reason’’ for their visit, and this basically gives them B-1 visa status for up to 90 days, said immigration attorney Rita Sostrin in Los Angeles.

It's still pretty fuzzy what exactly was in violation though it's more likely than not that these Korean workers were technically in violation of their B1 (or similar visa) - however the violation likely were also of the type that normally gets swept under the rug (I know plenty of tech workers who travel to US HQs on B1s who totally violate the visa - "meetings" yeah sure).

Regardless, shackling up workers like this is banana republic stuff.

She believes she’s justified in her snitching, saying that the Korean companies brought over illegal workers instead of giving jobs to locals, for which the contract awarded Hyundai a $32 million tax cut. She even hired a PI as a secret informant who acted as a union worker who passed her information.

I'm well past the notion that, as a Liberal, that I have to take the high road on things while my opponents are a bunch of ghouls. We have plenty of evidence in the last 30 years that this is a loser's strategy and fighting fire with fire is the only way.

If they're going to behave like sub-humans (like bombing a boat in the middle of the ocean) then we need to punch back. That's how revolutions are fought, this is how we defend democracy and human rights.
